Cant not acknowledge this wee milestone guys

Woah, was not expecting that one..... i know i've said it to some of you about my surprise at how popular the campaign blog was, considering how little i put on it.
So just for some proof heres a photo of it at this nice rounded up number of views so far.

and for those of you messaging me for more 'claire-ness' i direct you to yet another one of my blogs (itll be less uni work and more claire. and i started it about five minutes ago, so give me a week to make it all perdy and fill it up a wee bit before you start judging it)

You know you want to follow the new blog, even if its just for the craic and the spelling mistakes.

ps. sligo would like me to take back the fact i accidentally called her by her given name 'niamh' in the last post. considering i was talking about more than one niamh, i think im allowed to be confused, but sligo, consider this my retraction. your name is and will always be known as Sligo (ehem spoiled child)

So long, farewell!

I must say, i am absolutely overwhemled with the votes i got. i was expecting about 10.... maybe 30 if i was being optimistic, but considering no campaiging was done for the last two days and i didnt visit one classroom or give a speech, i recieved a third of the votes. It goes to chose people actually listen and believe in words of someone who means them. I am so overwhelmed, i know with a bit more effort i could win next year....however ill be on my placement year, so if and when i chose to run again, ill be startin frm scratch again. regardless, i hope Mickey works towards some of the issues i wanted to address, as well as his own now that he is VP of Magee.

round of applause***

Although i would love to be VP, i am so happy he won, not only will i get to go abroad on placement, its opened my eyes to alot of the issues at magee so i will be better suited to address them in future. I have another year if not two, to run again, whereas this was his last year, so im actually so happy he won it, he appreciates it just as much if not more than me, so i am so happy for him.
Although there was alot of hassle during the week over campaigning, as ive said before, it wasnt him, and i think he'll do an amazing job, different approach than me, but amazing none the less.
WELL DONE MICKEY, not just a congratulations but a massive GOOD LUCK, youve deff got your work cut out for you! running this lot.

#gettingquiggywithit
(the only time i will be using that lol)

So lets get a run through of the day.... the sun is splitting the trees (cultchy for its sunny outside) so magically nobody has class but everyones relaxing outdoors, unfortunately voting being an indoor activity, the good students of derry were having none of that.
So not many votes were to be had. The polls closed at 12 noon, sealed shut, done and dusted. and from there i just relaxed, i just had this calmness about me all day, i didnt care, win or lose (which i thought was strange, i thought id panic on the day, but no) i was very content, and had an 'if its meant to be, its meant to be' attitude.
I hope nobody took my calm attitude as an 'i dont care' attitude, i was just accepting the results either way. i was truly prepared to win and lose. So next year me and mickey will have a seriously big experience, he will run a university and i will live in another country .... thats the rules, lose a student council election and you get banished from the country. kidding.

Went around campus collecting every scrap of election stuff, mainly posters, manifestos and boards. This was a far harder task due to the fact it was so warm with our amazing weather BUT i would like to personally thank all the smart asses out there who tore down my posters during the week....instead of ripping down about a hundred odd posters, i only had to lift about 30, so you made my day alot easier, thankyou for your consideration.

they've had quite a week

Once that was done, ice lollies had to be had, then we met up in front of the library for a taxi to the count.
Yes it was meant to be a bus but numbers kept changing, alot of people decided to drive up, so we all just took a taxi. This was mainly us planning a drinking session and singing along to cheesy music....when i say we i mean me, and everyone else just had to watch. (josh took a video, i may upload that later along with photos im for nicking off niamhs phone when i see her next, so stay tuned for those)
It took forever to get there, and back might i add. not pleased. glad i wasnt nervous, or upset, that would not be a trip id want to make in anything less than a happy mood.
Heres a few photos describing the start of our journey.... clearly me, niamh and the boys prioritise different, niamh had about a weeks worth of clothes for one night away, i bought a years worth of chocolate, josh brought his enthusiasm and conrad thought his laptop would break the evening up a bit.... interesting bunch we make.

dont know about you guys, but i was set for the long day

the weirdos in an awkward wee selfie
love you all

sligo resting on her 'nights' worth or clothes.... notice thats two full bags bursting at the seams

Arrived, met alot of other candidates and their representatives. over he course of the next few hours, food was had, announcements were made and bodies were hid.
They changed the count last minute so the results would be a surprise. so the candidates werent allowed in the room, so sligo didnt get to play her drinking game.... thank god she didnt, other wise id be in A&E with her getting her treated for alcohol poisoning.

im starting to think we shouldnt be allowed near cameras.
(ill hopefully get the rest of the photos off the others soon and post them asap)

Belfast was announced first, that was a serious cheer, she didnt have to stand or make a speech but noooooo, when it was me and mickey, we had to stand in front of everyone (me knowing i was for losing was all, WHY) but yeah, the votes were announced and then we all cheered for the man himself.
Then they all thought it would be a good idea to give me a microphone, DOES NOBODY REMEMBER THE TRAIN WRECK THAT WAS LAST MONDAY..... so i refused to take it, but nope, had to, tried passing it to an emotional mickey, nope, wasnt having it, so i mumbled something that went something like this 'well.... i got xx votes woo....mickey seems a bit emotional, well done' and then i near broke the mic and handed it to mickey.... i should not be allowed near microphones, EVER.

Mickey made an acceptance speech. as youd expect (why would you get the loser to say a speech, that could turn into a shouting/crying session. risky) His speech of course consisted more than stating the obvious. it actually thanked people. i sat down and cheered etc, and niamh nicely pointed out 'thanks for thanking your campaign team' oops

Thankyou campaign team, couldnt have done it without you....sorry its about 6 hours too late and not on a mic, my bad.

either way, today went exactly how it should. Once all that was over, conrad decided he wanted to get to CORE gaming before it was over. The niamhs decided they were for leaving early to get ready to go out and me and josh were just for collapsing ....well i was, josh mightve wanted more shots than he was getting. ANYWAYS, after a small nosey about colraine union, we got in a taxi home. photos below will give you an amazing of how mature we are and how we act like complete tourists when visiting any other campus (we did the same at jordanstown, strange little creatures we tend to be) So after alot of noseying we waited outside in the freezing cold for our taxi, to amuse myself i took selfies, mere proof as follows.

following the footprint....which dont seem to notice theres a table in the way

hallway selfie....conrads looking stealthy

i love how this is all the campus' 'old' building, its nicer than our good buildings, but everything you see in these photos (bar us obviously) will soon be knocked down. as colraine are fancypants and have a new building. welllll.

josh strutting his stuff.... or just collapsing in exhaustion, you decide.

he found the upstairs, an pool tables.

wrong way conrad

loooooong day, but pretty campus none the less

some day im gonna get in trouble for taking so many photos without ones permission.... but that day is not today SMILE CONRAD.

The taxi ride home was so long, and the car was so warm, and the silent ole taxi man had county music playing so it ended up one way or another, he mustve thought he was babysitting a pile of toddlers as we ALL fell asleep. I only woke up when we got to derry because conrads laptop case hit my backside, which caused a laughing fit and the taxi man officially thought we were insane.
Called in with the amazing people of CORE gaming society down in the students union, but we were all so tired we only played a few games and ran home to our beds. where i am currently reporting all this from.

As i want this to be all wrapped up soon, i think this will be my last post on the blog, ever.
(dont cry, i warned you at the start it was only temporary for campaign purposes)
So here is my final goodbye song. not just because its currently popular, or because im Pixar in the head. but because its a lovely self motivating, happy song of acceptance and deciding to get on with things and make them better. so here it is LET IT GO from disneys, FROZEN.

so at this point i should say a whole big paragraph at how happy i am, and what will happen next, and thank everyone and their granny BUT to be very honest, after 7 weeks of non stop union work (RAG officer, volunteer week, campaign week, election week) i just want to curl up in a snuggely ball and sleep. tomorrow is another day and although i will have alot less on my plate compared to the last few weeks, i do actually have alot of uni work to catch up on, sooooo wish me luck with all of that, and if you want to know how that turns out, you should all follow me on blogger/google+ or check out previous blogs, as i have to document all coursework on separate blogs. they are boring but, itll wean you off this awesome blog. just saying.
Ill more than likely be starting yet another casual blog you can all read soon, (probably about placement, from start to finish. ongoing) soooo look out for that one, that'll be different.
Now im done ramming all the votes and blogs down your throats, yous can finally be left in peace.

So good night! so long farewell, auf weidersehen and good bye!!!!!

Thank-you all for this amazing week, it definitely wont be forgot any time soon.

One day mooooooooore

Yes start how you mean to finish. So as far as i remember, one of my first song of the days was les miserables. do yu hear the people sing (love it)

To get you all back in the les mis, viva la revolution mood. heres a little ONE MORE DAY to keep you all feeling motivated.be that fr one more days of votes, one more day until you know the outcome, or i suppose the most popular, one more day until we can stop hearing about the whole lot.

I understand it was a strain on the ears this week. i apologise. However it is your say, your uni, you should have the ear talked off you so you can not only decide on who you think would do a better job, but to also have your say in what happens whilst your at university.

Woah this last fortnights gone so quickly!
Give the song a wee listen, starts off slow, then gets a little inspirational, then a proper build up to end with some proper braveheart FREEDOOOOOM feelings.

One day more till revolution
one day to a new beginning,
every man will be a king
theres a new world for the winning
do you hear the people sing

one day more
tomorrow is the judgement day
tomorrow we'll find out what our god in heaven has in store
one more dawn
one more daaaaaaaay

A wee run down of tomorrow/the count.

So this will be one of my last posts before the winner is announced and i wrap up this blog. SO im gonna give you all an idea of how tomorrow should go.

ill get up early (not likely as its now nearing 4am)  do some form of last minute campaigning. love life for the last five minutes before i dive back into assignment work, regardless of the outcome.
twelve noon tomorrow the polling station will close and il have to round round campus and take down every single scrap of campaign material with my name on them (sooooooo someone remind me to bring scissors for whatever boards are left) i then go to class....get lectured by ones in my group for leaving early.
leave class early and get on a 3oclock colraine bound bus (maybe drag ones for company....hint hint niamh/conrad/jaime)
we show up, everyones all smiles, im sure there will be wee speeches, and then it begins!!!! the count, so we have to watch all of them, BUT magee will be second or third on the list for the count.
watch the count, winner is announced (more than likely on facebook within five minutes) i celebrate the fact i can get home to sleep before my handins.
everyone has the craic, we get the bus back....well some of us will, others are having themselves a very long st paddys weekend.
I then go out to sugar and get on with life. because lets face t, its student council elections and regardless of the outcome, the posters will be gone and everyone will forget all about this in a week.....and the elected official starts in july.

Simples.

again if you have any last minute questions or comments. throw them my way using the usual communication methods, facebook, email or the pony express.

but dont worry, ill still blog about tomorrow, regardless of the tears. you can count on it.
Wish us luck that tomorrow goes well for all involved!

prepare to win, prepare to lose

So today was the last full day of voting. for any of you lovely souls still planning on getting a last minute vote in, the polls are open tomorrow morning until noon.
Today to be honest i havent much development. I had a hospital appointment in belfast today, and it was one of those appointments that take a year to get so you dont cancel or reschedule for any reason, which means i wasnt on campus at all today.
I left Sligo in charge, but everyone was very very busy with classwork and coursework, lets face it, not much got done today. So im not holing my breath on any miracles tomorrow. however id like to thank each and every single person who has or will vote, dont worry, you all get a massive WOOHOO every time a claire vote is called.... i kid you not tomorrows count will go a little something like this, mickey, mickey, mickey, mickey, mickey, claire WOOHOO, mickey.
Im not being pessimistic, im being realistic, but i love each and every little vote, so thankyou very much and its a bit early to congratulate mickey soooo we'll do that later after hes all chuffed and stops stressing (i understand why i should probably be stressing, but whats he stressing over?) Today basically went, i got up early, i walked about and couldnt find any classes on, and if they were on they were busy, i walked about the bunker (thats the student restaurant for any of you who dont go to magee) annoyed a few people there, in total got (if they voted) two votes, and from there i had to run off on a 12 o clock bus to belfast. meet mammy, head to the hospital, didnt get away from there till after five,  stuffed my face for the third time of the day, this time with pizza hut.... spot the grown up candidates desert...so delicious

then headed my butt back to derry, but i didnt get there until twenty past seven, the ballets were closed, so that was useful. i shouldve probably gone about th labs and actually done something productive with my second and basically last day voting, BUT .... i decided going to half seven mass over at the cathedral on great james' st would be a better use of my time. im sorry but WOAH thats such an amazing chapel on the inside, i always knew it was pretty on the outside (conrad has an amazing up close and personal view of the tower, which i said id love and then he said wait until every hour on the hour when the bells start ringing and then see how much you love it) point is, its pretty. and even though i stressed all day, i think that rest in the cathedral not only calmed my mind about the elections, ie theres far more important things not only in the world and in life, but happening with me currently. besides if its not meant to be this time, then its not meant to b. at least thats how i look at it.
So like we were told in our 'youre now a candidate ' presentation, you should prepare to win (i think weve done that and cant even wait until july to get the ball rolling on many projects) but also.....prepare to lose.
That doesnt mean go awww i wont win. it means have a contingency plan etc. like mine is confirm my place on placement abroad. and then if i still feel the need to help the uni in my third year, run again.
I dont think prepare to lose actually meant just a plan, but also clear the mind and all that. so today to be honest was more of an understanding and spiritual day rather than actual votes.
I think ive learned alot from these elections, and i have some different opinions and outlooks because of it. soooo im rather pleased with today. regardless of votes. win lose or draw, im happy with all the people ive met and the experience  ive had with this campaign. twas enlightening.

So ive finished mass, i could go bug wanderers around campus or labs OR i could continue my no elections day and go with my friends to see 300 over at the cinebowl (omg those seats are so comfy over there) but yeah, as an art student i of course analysed the whole thing and didnt get the same impact everyone else did, but i enjoyed it. i enjoyed it even more because this little ship of farmers and poets and trades men, overcame the big massive fleet using their faith and wisdom.... i love when the little guy wins. itt may not happen often but i think that makes it even more special for when it does.

I know theres plenty of you probably thinking  dont care about the votes, or the outcome or the job, because my attitude towards it is so calm. but im naturally an optimistic person, so if something doesnt happen, then theres normally a reason. theres no point in me frying my head over something like an election.
If i win i win, if i dont, then i dont. ive had an amazing two weeks regardless..... so thankyou all.

Pokemon (high demand for this song of the day surprisingly)

Are you trying to tell me you didnt see this one coming? i actually had a very appropriate pop song all lined up for today, but this was suggested to much today by you all, so it had to be done
every good leader gives the people what they want, and you were all very vocal that you wanted a pokemon theme tune after seeing me in the pokemon hat in the election video, and about campus.
So here it is, my childhood in three and a half minutes.
I can still remember vividly power sliding across the sitting room floor to watch this !.... i bet most of you think im talking about as a child, nah im talking about this evening at 4....kidding.
enjoy the trip down memory lane.

i wanna be the very best,
like no one ever was,
to catch them is my test to train them is my cauuuuuuse.

OMG team rocket were on campus! run pikatchu!

So many of you consider the hat an identifier this week. im not complaining tbh.
however alot of you have also attempted to steal the hat and/or find out where i bought it (christmas market, but im sure ebay has ones just like it. as i have a pikatchu hoodie, which i will more than likey wear in tomorrow, to prove how much better it is than the hat)

So since you all expressed so much interest in the hat.... im presenting to you two things, one.... the following photo of someone i found and nagged today until he took a photo with me, my hat and his tshirt.
and two....yous can have the hat if i win (so no chance im losing my hat) but you can all try :)

First day of voting folks.

As you can all see both parties are just killing each other, i dont even know what to do, #the madness.
Ive decided after this week imma smack anyone using a hashtag in my presence after the elections, im so tired of them.
Ok so there yous are, sligo and her lovely friend from Mickeys team....actually meant to throw a link up to mickeys youtube and facebook page. otherwise you are all completely in the dark on who this opposition is that i keep talking about.

No today went far better than id imagined, it really did.
So many people actually listening to what i had to say! shocker! Although most were too busy to vote, or put off by the line. Im just so grateful i had proper election conversations today. Met some amazing american students, all of which actually asked me about policies and plans and how i intended to achieve these things. i love that one to one, prove you are a decent candidate. I hate the whole, point blank yes or no. yes because you asked but i dont care why, or no because i dont know you and i dont care either way.

Actual election conversations, its really motivated me to run in my final year like id planned all along. This week was intended as a stepping stone to make my election in final year easier, and get my name out there, However other students didnt see it that way and decided to go on a full on hate campaign, thanks guys. So after this week i was genuinely starting to think, naw im not running for this again, if they dont want the help or they dont care about each other why should i.... but then today happened, and friends picked me up, and complete randomers asked decent questions. and then listened, no doors slamming in faces. woah. such a great day. definitely motivated me for running again, ill forget that minority of haters and get on with things because lets face it, things need to change and i want to make them change.

I know it sounds silly, but i have either been ignored or unchallenged and i think today really did me the world of good. it really boosted my spirits.... well that and the fact this is near over put me in a great mood.
I shouldnt be hoping it to be over soon, as i have a million assignments (slight exaggeration...its really 2) to hand in in less than a week after these elections. damn.

OK i promised not to ramble as much anymore and i am. sorry.
So have you voted yet? if so well done. you are excused now from all nagging.
If you havent, why the heck not, c'mon it takes two seconds, and its up to you who gets to help you next year. who will do the better job, who will make the change yo want to see?
Its your uni, its your say. so go on get your butt down to the students union and vote (claire) and make the difference.

every voice should be heard and every single vote matters!!! so dont waste it. join the rebellion and have your say in taking back the uni !!!!

The usual contact methods apply, facebook/email/paper airplane

VOTE CLAIRE FOR CHANGE !

ps. im actually extremely grateful for every single little vote, thankums!

Election Video

So there it is, a video i shouldnt put up as its so cringe worthy but c'mon i wasted my time on it, yous can all spare 8 minutes to judge it. Anyways, im off to sleep, hopefully my amazingly fast internet will have it up on youtube on the above link sometime between now, and christmas....preferably tomorrow morning but hey, no rushing these things. its not like im in a hurry, you take your time talktalk internet.

oh and to all of you witnessing the very recent fb squabble i had with two wee randomers... i dont know if you are disappointed someone you thought would be your vp entered such a fight BUT, would you rather i was diplomatic and stayed out of it? or deleted the whole convo out of shame in hopes nobody would see it? well in that case you are probably best voting for the quigg, because im going to tell you when someones out of line, i have no problem with everyone speaking their minds as long as nobody gets hurt or upset. However it was inappropriate on the page t was on, it happened and you should all walk away from it knowing i dont politely agree with everyone just for the sake of it. if that was the timid boring weirdo i was then why would i make a fuss and run for vp in the first place.

Anyways, see you all tomorrow, ye know, on your way to vote me vp .... hey one can live in hope.

Give a Little

from the hanson boys that brought us mmm bop.... now maybe its the 90s child in me but i am addicted to this song the last few days.
Helps this is an adorable music video. but its a real 'dance like nobodys watching' song. Love it.

So tomorrow at the polling station, give a little love to the claire box. Go vote claire and vote for change!
give a little heart and soul,
let your body loose control,
give a little oh oh ohohhhhh!!!

ITS ALMOST OVER

ok so, thats campaign week finished as it is now after midnight. i think we can all cheer together, THANK FRIG THATS OVER.... oh my gosh if i hear one more #who or hashtag anything for that matter, ill wanna smack someone so hard in the face.
The problem with the end of campaign week, it means the start of election week.... or election two and a half days i suppose. So we are nearly finished but not quite.

I havent blogged in the last few days (though ive still been chatting to you guys and answering your messages) i havent been posting because i wanted to post a video i made a few days ago, it was horrible and i just cringe looking at it, but i made it and if other people can get away with changing the words to wagon wheel into a campaign song, sure why not show you all my horrible video.... problem is, the sounds messed up and ive been working i kid you not ALL DAY trying to fix it, so if and when i get it sorted tonight, itll be my last post of campaign week.
Whether or not youre voting for me tomorrow, i thik you will all be amused at me my lonely self and i outside the polling station (i may not have many on my side as usual, BUT those who i do have on my side are all busy with hand ins and class, like i SHOULD be, so you cant blame me for being a lonely little campaigner tomorrow about campus)

If this week has taught me anything, its that you cant please everybody, there will always be a long line of people saying you arent good enough, and to those people i say, slide on, because i couldnt care less. if you dont want my help, then help yourself. I will however always stand up for the little guy, i will always be that annoying person who will force you out of a slump, and i will always be ready to stop loudmouthed people when they are picking on someone else (deserved or not). But most of all this week has taught me who my true friends are.... no im not going all hallmark moment on you all.
BUT
To those who are on the fence
To those who dont want to bother voting
To those of you who follow the crowd and dont know why you are saying/doing/voting something you dont believe in, i say youall need to open your minds and eyes, because you are going nowhere but where you already are.

To the people who showed me they have a mind and individuality and want to aim for happiness, i thankyou. you have made this week very very very interesting.

Theres a big difference in friends and people you know. I for one know who my friends are this week, not because they voted for me, but because theyve put up with my crap all week, helped me when i wanted to just give up, and above all listened to what i wanted to change, not what ive done but what i will do!

.
.
.
.
.So yeah hallmark whiney moment over, you all get the gist, some of you prooved yourselves this week above and beyond, and  others, well.... enjoy that fence youre sitting on.

Point is, tomorrow loads of people will show up in herds and head into that polling station at the students union. and they'll vote for whoever they want, nobody can force them to do anything.
I just hope they do it for the right reasons, and i of course dont loose by a landslide .... it would be nice to reach the double digit mark when the votes are being counted.

Ill attempt to get the video up and running shortly. so you can all get some last minute laughs before i collapse in my bed recovering from elections, then eventually crawl off and actually get a start on my assignments (the work is really piling up eep)

SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW BRIGHT AND EARLY TO VOTE
pssst vote claire

underdog?

Inspired by a good friend, who decided the term underdog was thrown about too much this last while regarding the elections, i personally dont like the term, but again, after this week ive learned to not jump into the gossip, it just adds fuel to the fire. i believe everyone should have a fair shot and someones gotta loose like. no point shouting about it. If anything comes from my campaign i hope its that the students of Magee now expect more from their university and the people in charge.
#CDVP

here it is kasabian-underdog..... dont ask me how she finds these songs but she does.

Good Advice

Not to sound all doom and gloom today (i am an optimistic person, i promise.... just not used to explaining my every thought to an entire university) So as a little note of motivation for you all, i present to you a sign down in the MH building, ie.. the place all us design students panic in when its deadline time.
Though its aimed at designers i believe a little something can be taken out of it for all.

a wee note- i want to not just improve software and equipment in the uni (got to love how 3DS Max and many other similar softwares crash on us all the time) but also the accessibility to the resources, including the labs and studios! longer hours are definitely something to push for with your next VP, regardless of who it is.

a very cyber day

Ok so as most of you know, i did very little campaigning today, doesnt help that we are now entering a study week for many, and alot of classes are cancelled or free study, which is code you can all have a nice long sleep and not bother coming into uni. i like many of you had a good old lay in.... granted my class was technically still one. either way guys i hope you are all well rested and enjoying the fact you dont have to see god awful yellow posters everywhere....my room mates however dont have that luxury as i still have the house just covered in manifestos.
Today though little campaigning was done, mainly due to wether, lack of students and the fact i have alot of hand ins very shortly (yes im not a goodie two shoes, i fall behind in classes just like all of you) It was apparent campaigning wasnt take a wee breather.

Now let me fill you all in on a small fact, im that person whos always glued to their phone, and i know everyone hates that person, but to be honest my friends are scattered all over the country/world, im at that fun point in life everyones just deserted me for work and uni in far off places or even just back home, so i am relatively alone in Derry in that respect, so i do like to keep in touch with them all alot. This is done a fair bit through facebook (many of you that added me may notice im never bloody offline, and pathetically quick to reply) So last weekend due to alot of notifications and election talk while i was supposed to be focusing on uni work, i had to ultimately delete facebook off my phone, SO long story short theres been alot of....activity.... on facebook today, that i wasnt particularly following as closely as many of you. this is obviously down to the fact FB is no longer on my phone. which means i had a fun read tonight when i finally got online.
Woah alot of opinions out there.

This morning while i was getting assignment supplies i noticed many posters missing i asked several of the shop owners and they all had very similar stories of students coming in and ripping them down or taking a good old black marker/pen to them and wrecking them. I then spoke to friends about this who pointed out other posters around campus that this had happened too. this has happened a few times over the week but i chose to ignore it. however today i had just had enough and decided to let you all know you should wise up a bit. c'mon act your age a bit. you all know better than to just wreck someones stuff out of pettiness.
So i gave yous all a shout out this morning, asking yous to please stop wrecking the election posters. this was of course misinterpreted as me saying it was the other candidate, in no way am i saying that, im saying stop wrecking both of our election work. After all, we are looking to help you next year, not twirl in an office chair for 11months, contrary to popular opinion.

I explained this to Mickey, he agrees, you're all jumping to conclusions a wee bit.
But i suppose tensions are getting high as its getting closer and closer until polls open, and i for one will be very glad when they close, i will finally get some uninterrupted alone time with sleep.

And as a wee note, just because i dont respond to something doesnt mean i dont have an opinion on whether i agree or disagree or think you are way out of line, its down to manners and not starting a fight over a public space.

Now i am a very enthusiastic person when it comes to something im truly passionate about, so i suppose i have come across as quite loud this week to many of you, but i hope you all know, whichever candidate gets chosen, will be the right choice. Im not a fan though, of people saying on both private messages and to my face that im not suitable for the job?
Well allow me to list a few reasons im not totally unsuitable.

I am one of the eldest of 9 children, so i know how to handle chaos, and speak to alot of people wanting different things all at once.

I am also from a single parent family (like most of the student body) i know rightly times are tough on everyone, university is expensive enough, theres no need for the rent in the villages to keep going up, or tuition fees to get higher and higher and the quality of the education and the accommodation to stay consistent.

Ive studied and worked for several years as an engineer before i came to university, i know what i want in life, so im going for it, thus my return to education, im not doing it for the craic of it. This also means i know what employers want, and to be brutally honest, they dont want to know you have an expensive piece of paper and have drank for 3-4 years, i want to give you all that extra bit of flare so when you leave university, you wont have that common problem of actually finding a job.

Me and two other newbie officers completely set up RAG week bar one event. we planned it, we worked it (along with amazing volunteers), and we seen it all through and thanks to all you guys and your generosity, we made it a complete success. So i know you want more events and fun about campus to break up the dreary day/week/year

Ive been involved in the union, and i know how hard it is to get about it, or understand what it does.
To be very honest in my first year i wasnt aware of anything that happened in the uni, i felt like i had no say, i failed a class due to a lecturers mistake, and i had to resit it in the summer, costing me fifty pounds, simply because i thought i couldnt complain. So many of us are left in the dark on our rights, the support available and what is happening around us in our own school. This is why i want everyone to have their voice heard, i want to be there, if you dont know who to go to, ill point you in the right direction, if they still arent helping, ill sort it, if you have even the slightest interest in doing something, i want to make sure you have the chance to do it.
Magee is such an underrated school, we are so the forgotten about step child of the university of ulster, and i want to change that, i want to change our image and how people see us. we are just as good as anybody else and definitely shouldnt be underestimated!

This is why even if you dont thin it has much to do ith you, even though you think your opinion or vote doesnt matter, this is why i implore each and every one of you to get up, get out there on monday- tuesday and get your say in how our uni is run. The problems are now!
Now o you want promises that will maybe happen five years down the line when youre gone? what do you find important to you as a student! do you want help now or do you just want to get this life stage over and done with. We can make Magee so much more than it is, but not by just sitting about and doing nothing.

Its time to act now. not maybe later, or you think both candidates are bringing the same thing to the table.... no we wont. we are very different people, but both are hoping to improve the campus.

Its time to ask yourselves are you happy... is there actually nothing youd change about Magee right now?
Ignore the snide politics, or the gossip or even what everyone else is trying to tell you what t think.... be that intelligent person you know you are, and do what you think is right.

Next year i will be either in a tiny VP office making your experience worth while or ill be making my own experience worth while in America or Europe (undecided on my placement just yet) So to be very honest, i dont mind which you choose. its your vote, your say, and every voice/vote/student matters!

I would love to give you all the opportunity to do what ever you want. but i cant do that without the vote. so ill leave it up to yourselves. read the manifestos, think about the person and if you think theyll actually help or just look good on a poster. Think what you want and then vote, dont go bragging youre voting or who (as that just starts gossip/miscommunication like what happened today) just do your thing and be your own person regardless of what others want or think.

Sorry i rambled so much tonight, tomorrow i promise to keep it short and sweet and just tell you what i actually did and not what i think.
As usual, FB me, follow me, email me, if youve any opinions id love to hear them.

little bit of queen to cheer you all up on this fine rainy day

lets face it, queen is nothing but inspirational, so i dont want to have to choose just on song for this down and wet rainy day, but i will anyways. Here it is, for your musical entertainment under pressure.

yes i know 'dont stop me now' or maybe 'under pressure' wouldve been more appropriate, but i love the video to this one :) queen in drag, more of this sorta thing! (bad father ted reference)

god knows!
i've got to break free

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-Zo4AVL7AE

I actually attended class today.

ok so apart from annoying a few of you at lunch, i didnt get much done today.
ALOT of my posters have been ripped down, thanks guys, good to see well educated university students understand the meaning of democracy and all that. cheers

So by this stage i hope you have all started seeing my weird poster all over campus. due to the rain this morning me and sligo etc didnt do what we had planned today (we got up at 6am for no reason, sad times) so thats been temporarily called off due to rain, aw well.

Tonight i had intended of annoying the good people of the villages, but the RAs are all so amazing at getting back to me (the halls i deffintely want to improve if i get elected) So that didnt happen, instead ive decided in light of my exhaustion, and the fact many students seem overly against me simply putting posters up, ive decided to take the first night off. its time to go out! and yes, i fully intend on earing my silly pink VOTE CLAIRE tshirt, (attractive) and annoying any not overly drunk student i can find, but other than that, i think its time for me to forget this campagin for at least one night. so there you all have it, you are safe from my badgering you for votes for at least one more night.

On a less bitchy note, i would like to thank a couple of lads for entertaining me for the last ten minutes with the following extract from facebook.

Instead of voting for Micky or Claire, vote LRS for VP. If you vote for LRS we will bring in douche bag policies such as:
Free Guinness pints at SU if you lift
Free pints of Guinness if you're dressed up as Batman
Tequilla Jaeger Bombs for £2.50 at SU

Sorry to tell you lads, but the nominations are well and truly closed, and its either me or Mickey for VP. make your choice. someone who will make a difference and make uni far more enjoyable and useful for everyone, or just that candidate all your friends are voting for cos they know the guy.

its up to you guys, neither me nor mickey are in the polling stations with you next Monday Tuesday or Wednesday. who you vote for isnt our business. i dont care who you say you will vote for or who you actually vote for (theres a difference) all that matters, is that you look at both candidates and make a fair decision, and that decision is yours, so attempt not to be a boring sheep following the crowd. get yourself a mind of your own and decide what you want from your next vp and who will be that person.

again if you have any questions about me, my ideas or my campaign, dont be afraid to give me a shout via facebook, email or carrier pigeon.

Everything is Awesome

Well id like to think id put some mature easy listening music here, but ive recently seen the lego movie (i was a massive lego fan as a child.... or toys in general. i was not a tomboy nor a shut in, not at allllll)
So yes, loved the movie, slightly over rated but i was in heaven! especially when an unexpected song came on and i had to sing it out of tune ALL DAY and annoy anyone in the vicinity of me. soooo EVERYTHING IS AWESOME WHEN YOURE PART OF A TEAM.
lets take back the uni guys, get it back in your hands, and decide what we want from OUR university experience!!!!

My feet hurt. FINISH THE JOB

Yeah hanging posters alone (with sligo and at one point niamh) not easy. starting to wish i had a fangirl base like my opponent :'( lots of hands make lighter work. especially when the work is heavy, sore on the finger tips (bluetack and pins) and above all, a mile long campus with a billion notice boards. ok ok slight exaggeration but it was a long day.

So today started rather early. i got to go meet the Bill Clinton, yes you heard me. that was a surprising turn of events, and by meet i mean i was about four feet away in a jam packed guildhalll square where he gave a speech on peace. he also said some very important points, one in particular that really stuck with me all day.....finish the job.
no im not planning on assassinating anyone just yet. but .... i have been told many times i wont win. thats fine, i have no problem being an underdog, i also would prefer not to loose by a landslide, however ive decided not to be worrying so much about this campaign, after ll its all for a happier university life, theres no point me being miserable and campaigning, this is a fun experience and if i go down, ill be going down in flames, flames nobody will forget for quite some time, even when these elections are over.
students may elect the opponent HOWEVER, theyll more than likely remember the pikatchu girl with the anime poster and a manifesto resembling a notice boards. This will be an election to remember lets just say that much.

So regardless of your views on clinton, it was motivational for me (and the extremely good looking politician in the pink tie didnt hurt the morning) but i have it in my head no FINISH THE JOB. this will be one to remember, and if my day wasnt memorable enough, not only did my fantastic room mates and friends in the choir preform, they had a saxophone.... highlight of my day, the shiny saxophone, ya know, apart from the fact B.clinton touched my hand not once, but twice, thats both of that mans hands ive touched. not a big deal to you guys but i doubt ill ever be touching a president of Americas hand again (current or not)

secret service guy being super secret

cough* not with the lunatics at all

sligo pleased she may have missed a seminar oops

the songs went on for quite song time.... wasnt one bit warm people

good wee view of the boys. well one guys!!!

mr very important univeristy man, that i cant remember the name of

masters student,.... did i mention im bad with names?

the big man himself finally appeared and started shaking hands

love this pose of him, he looks so not presidential

you stay classy Derry. i love how other cities put out bouquets or wreaths. nah lets throw some nice potted plants out there (giggled so hard when i first seen this)

the most important selfie of the week likely..... this was a difficult selfie by the way, i got me the ex president and jaime and conrad.... al four of us in different rows. wasnt aware my arm stretched  that far

ill be honest this was me taking a photograph of the secret service, not clinton.

So just incase i wasnt annoying/amusing you enough this evening, ive decided to also include a stop motion (sorta) of how i got squished in my mission to get the ex presidents hand not once but twice. woo.

looks very civilized so far mmm

and now the hands come out

oh good, five rows back dont forget to ppupt your hands out either

hand touch #1

blatant hand touch #2

squish up further, i dont mind, oh look there goes my hat

control yourselves!

nope thats fine, i like being trampled, bye bye elections, i didnt even make it the week

going

going

gone

gotta love hat hair ;)

oh sure lets ease off now im trampled and hes away
thanks folks, great audience today.
me and my MIA hat loved it.

yes, the proof those childih gloves he touched so many times was mine..... my moment of fame for the afternoon. ok back to business.... after this it was straight to the uni for a big poster run..... ok hillbillys, THEN the uni.

You will all likely see them tomorrow however, im pleased i got round the uni so much in the amount of time i did. by the end i was just a sleep deprived zombie (probably definitely not the best idea to head off on a bus to Dublin tomorrow for the camogie championship. well to my opponent/coach and fellow team mates, good luck! ill be in class the sleeping)

Finished the night off with Core. gotta love you guys. best way to beat the stress, little to no actual students and alot of xboxs :) happy bunny tonight.
Cant wait till tomorrows antics.!
see you all about campus tomorrow....consider yourselves warned!!!

As always email or facebook me if yous have any questions about me or my campaign, shouting on here or across a random classroom also works. Looking forward to hearing from the rest of you lovely people.
