as well as ranting a little and showing you the behind the scenes of my campaign, i also figured itd be good craic to give you all an inspirational and or quirky song of the day, each day of this campaign!
To start it all off, heres one to rally the troups (and its by far my favourite song at the moment) without further adue, here's Les Miserables DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING.
I dont care if you think the songs aren't to your tastes, go on and give them a wee try, you might be pleasantly surprised ;)

My Manifesto (in colour)
Hopefully you've all seen and read this manifesto! but yeah, here it is and in colour woo!
I didnt want to write reams and reams of intentions and explanations. I think ive set out realistic goals and i fully intend on surpassing them, and i dont want to tell you exactly what ill do, simply because i know what i want to fix, but its not all i'll do, after all ,thats your job, tell me what you want done and i'll get it done.
Hardly promising you all a unicorn each. I just want to make university as fulfilling and happy for everyone, not just the ones in the know, or those who got off on a better foot than others. I want to be in the position to help! remember i cant get in that position without you all voting for me though, so yeah, VOTE FOR CLAIRE.
Many things arent in my manifesto, i wanted it simple, straight to the point and easy read, im not trying to give you all another essay to read.... we all have plenty of uni work as it is.
My intention was let you know what i stand for and some of the things i want to change.
One of my intentions im disappointed i didnt include was that I want an open door policy and even a suggestion/worry/complaint system, if not a box, an email account dedicated to all of you, and i'll try remedy every single problem.
after all NO VOICE LEFT UNHEARD!!!!
After all this is a democracy, for the students, by the students!!!
I want to try get as much as possible done, not just sign a few forms, but actually help, and make you smile everyday.
I'll discuss my intentions and objectives through out this week on this blog, so constantly check back. itll definitely be an interesting week guys. hopefully Mickey my opposing candidate thinks so too. just wanna take this wee opportunity to wish him luck. we are both very different but either one of us will be an amazing choice for VP of Magee.
So enjoy my manifesto, and come n back tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that and get a better (slightly more casual) insight into not just my campaign but also my hopes and ambitions to make our university a far more enriching experience for every single person.
I'd like to give a big thanks to Mike Graham! He's not only a talented designer, but hes one of my biggest inspirations for running for VP. A fellow fallen through the cracks student!
Thankyou Mike you are amazing!!!
Poster !!!
Yeah i'm sure you're all sick of seeing it around campus, but here it is folks, my VOTECLAIRE poster.
So i did research on other campaign posters and to be brutely honest i found them boring.... unimaginative, and of course being the weirdo i am, i was uncomfortable with the idea with my ugly mug plastered all over campus for votes. After all knowing my face wasn't going to tell you anything about me, or my ideas...... i think this quirky poster does just that, it lets you know i have a range of interests that may not be the norm but i dont care, because thats what makes life interesting.
I wanted to portray the whole 'lets get the union/university back in the hands of the students' theme, but also allow you all to know me a little more, im loud, im brash and im clearly open minded. and i believe that is something every leader needs.
A question.... Would you rather someone to listen to all your suggestions/worries, big or small? do you want a polite face saying thats nice and ill 'endeavor' to fix it, or do you want someone whos actually going to do something about it!
i know better than anyone that i dont make the best first impressions, and i like what i like, but c'mon, i get the job done, and i never quit :)
I'm definitely not one to sit still and be under estimated due to my size, volume and looks.
I'll definitely surprise you all.
So what do you guys think of the poster? weird enough to suit me? or too weird for your formal tastes ?
Prize for whoever can name every character in the back ground :)
...oh and to any fellow art students..... please dont judge my squiggely lines and horible shading too harshly, it really was a last minute piece....

Welcome !!!
As usual i dont know how to start politely so im just gonna dive straight into it. This is my (very casual) blog. Allowing you all an insight into not just my thoughts, hopes and intentions for this VP role, but also to give you all a behind the scenes look at how im campaigning, and all my happy/sad times, after all there will be many of both.
This blog will be updated everyday and likely more than once, so keep up :)
Im currently so very nervous, however im also extremely excited about this forthcoming week of campaigning for VP of student and academic affairs at Magee university Derry. I think some nerves and excitement are expected though on the first day of campaigning, it has really snuck up on me though, ive been trying to get all my university work up to date before this week, i may not be the best student but i dont want to fail in the next week or so. So the fact that now the gag order is lifted, and im allowed to announce im campaigning for VP, all seems quite surreal. woah!
So allow me to introduce myself..... im Claire Donnelly, (thats the name you are going to check in the polling booth sssh) and i want to make a change in our university life for the better.
Currently university is.... ok. but are we paying thousands of pounds on ok? yes we get an education, but god theres so much more to university than getting an expensive piece of paper in the end, by graduation day you dont want to say aw righto time for work, let the fun start, NO, you want to say, well those were years well spent, not only did i meet amazing people and created lasting memories, ive gained valuable skills, experience and i will strive to make the rest of my life just as amazing and fulfilling! i want everyone to have the same opportunities, forget who you are, where your from, even what youre studying, i dont care how badly you started off or how behind on your work you are, or how much you think nobody shares your dreams and interests, i will personally drag you out of your shell and let you know who and what all is out there.
Dont you want someone who will actually help? not just pose for a website, but will always be there and hopefully help you make the university and your future far brighter.
C'mon, get involved in uni, dont just assume oh thats for younger students, thats for more experienced students, thats for sociable outgoing people, get out there and make the change you want to see!

The forms are signed, and the briefings are over..... its official. LET THE STUDENT ELECTIONS BEGIN! and as if it wasn't final enough, today being the first day of campaigning, i received my posters and manifestos, fingers crossed i dont look the complete fool, wish me luck guys.
yikes the physically copies are so very umm yellow.
These were not light to carry all the way home, whilst protecting them from the fantastic irish weather.
The top poster was a little crinkled and unfit for its publicizing purpose.... so i decided it would make a perfect asset to my bedroom door. waste not lads.
*feeling very motivated*
